During the 90s the holiday market started to evolve. With the growth of the low cost airlines and the internet it became more accessible to book trips direct. 

However, travel agents’ monopolised travel insurance sales because buying cover with them was the most convenient way open to consumers at the time. 

The founders of InsureandGo, James Richardson and Perry Wilson, saw that the insurance industry just wasn’t offering consumers an alternative because the administration involved was long and laborious.  And there was no effective provision online.

So Perry and James set about building a system that stripped away all unnecessary paperwork and which offered consumers a quick and easy way to buy low cost cover both online and over the phone.

The launch of InsureandGo in September 2000 saw the company use a bespoke sales solution for both phone and web, which asked just three questions to source a quote – number of days, area of destination and age.  Once the details were entered the price given to the consumer was highly competitive for good levels of cover.

Through its simple philosophy InsureandGo has been able to drive high volumes of business since its launch and today it insures over one and a half million people every year.

Company Head Office

To support its continuing growth in July 2006 the company moved its head office to Southend-on-Sea.  The offices have been designed to provide a light and airy environment for its staff to work in.

Following its inclusion in the 2005 Fast Track 100, 2006 saw InsureandGo ranked again in the table as the 25th fastest growing company in the UK, with an annual sales growth of 115%.

Company Innovations

Scratch and Go
Research in 2001 showed that many people were reaching the airport with no travel insurance in place.   Not because they had no intention to buy cover but because they had simply forgotten to arrange it.

InsureandGo also saw that lots of people leave certain holiday purchases, such as currency, until they reach the airport.

In April 2002, after months of development, InsureandGo launched Scratch and Go - an instant travel insurance range that is bought at the bureaux and activated by the customer before leaving the UK.

Scratch and Go is currently available at Travelex, International Currency Exchange and TTT Moneycorp bureaux’s nationwide.

Since its launch InsureandGo has built an impressive list of affinity partners.  It has achieved this through its white label website, branded call centre system and Scratch and Go instant cover solution.
