FAQ

Below is a list of our most frequently asked questions.

What about my Statutory rights?

By entering into a contract of insurance you will take on certain obligations and grant certain powers to the insurer. Nothing contained in this contract affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
  TOP
What is Single Trip insurance?

This policy covers you for a single trip and is the best value for normal holidays and business trips if you only travel once a year.
  TOP
What is Annual Multi-Trip insurance?

This policy covers you for as many journeys as you like during a full year. The maximum length of any one trip is 45 days or 90 days depending on the policy type you choose (31 days for those aged over 65). Annual Multi-Trip insurance also includes cover for winter sports such as skiing and snow boarding automatically! This is the best value for you if you plan to travel more than once in any 12 month period.
  TOP
What is Long Stay insurance?

This policy provides the best value for travellers aged over 36 who are planning a long journey of over 30 days - or if you are travelling on a budget. The Long Stay policy provides a slightly reduced level of cover compared to the Single Trip - but at significantly better rates!
  TOP
What is Backpacking/Gap year insurance?

If you are off for an extended trip to travel the world and are aged under 36 then our backpacking policies are for you.

How can I get an even better rate?

InsureandGo offers you the option to tailor your insurance package to suit your needs. After you have selected a policy in our instant quote generator you can select various options to fine tune your level of cover:
  • Exclude Baggage and Money - This option reduces the premium you have to pay, however you are not covered for loss of personal possessions or money whilst travelling. Check your home insurance policy as this may cover such items when you are away.
  • Double Excess - This option reduces the premium payable, however it increases the Excess you have to pay if you make a claim against this policy.*
  • Excess Waiver - This option increases the premium payable, however in the event of you having to make a claim on this policy there will be no Excess to pay.*
* This does not affect any increased excesses imposed in relation to Pre-existing Medical Conditions and/or certain Hazardous or Sporting Activities.

Pre-existing Medical Conditions

Whilst the Insurance is not subject to a health warranty we will not be liable for claims where at the time of taking out this insurance (or if there is a change in your medical condition between the date you bought your policy and the booking of each trip, if you have arranged an annual multi-trip policy), the following apply:
- You are aware of any medical condition or set of circumstances which could reasonably be expected to lead to a claim.
- Any person, including those not travelling, whose condition might give rise to a claim:
  • is receiving or waiting for hospital investigation or treatment for any undiagnosed condition or set of symptoms;
  • is travelling against the advice of a medical practitioner or for the purpose of getting medical treatment abroad; or
  • has been given a terminal prognosis, which means your condition will lead to your eventual death.

- We will not be liable for claims unless the condition has been declared to and accepted by underwriters (ring 0870 420 4162), if you or any person insured on your policy:

  • has suffered from or received any form of medical advice or treatment or  medication for:
    - any heart-related or blood circulatory condition (not including mild (see note) well-controlled hypertension suffered in isolation); or
    - any breathing condition (not including mild (see note) well-controlled asthma suffered in isolation); or
  • has had treatment or consultation for any cancerous condition in the last five years; or
  • has been referred to or seen by a hospital doctor or surgeon (other than an A&E doctor), or needed inpatient treatment in the last year.
Note: In this case, ‘mild’ means you are taking no more than two types of medication, and in the case of asthma you are not using more than two inhalers. You must make sure that you tell us about any change in circumstances of yourself or any close relative, happening after the policy has been issued and before you travel. We have the right to alter the terms in line with the change in risk. We will not be liable for claims if you, or any person whose condition may give rise to a claim, are suffering from or have suffered from any diagnosed psychological or psychiatric disorder, anxiety or depression.
