Independent tour operators will benefit from the failure of XL airlines, according to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO).
The group explained that travel agents seem to be weathering the credit crunch resolutely at the moment, with only a slight slowdown noted.
Ian Bradley, a representative for the group, explained that in the wake of the crisis, people are increasingly looking to seek the help of professionals when planning their holidays in order to ensure that they are protected against circumstance such as airline failure.
"It's better to book with a good travel agent who has a world of information at their fingertips and can offer you financial protection as well if you book through a decent tour operator," he exclaimed.
According to recent research carried out by the Association of British Travel Agents, 47 per cent of respondents said they were unwilling to change their travel plans in light of the current economic crisis.
